A little bit about me.... Lisa Gartin RN CLEC LCCE CD(DONA)
Lamaze instructor, Lactation counselor, Doula...MOM!

I have been a registered Nurse since 1993, practicing mostly in Pediatrics. I started working
with Fresno EOC Early Head Start in 2000 as their Maternal Child Health and
Disabilities Coordinator, and it was there that my passion for helping pregnant families
evolved! This led me to become a Lamaze Certified Childbirth educator, Lamaze Labor
Support and Teen specialist, and a DONA certified Birth Doula.
I have been trained by some of the top ladies in their fields, Teri Schilling of Lamaze, and
Penny Simkin of DONA.
The births of my own three children showed me how empowering an experience Birth can be,
....... If you have the tools to make it happen your way, and working with women taught me that
most families don't have these tools. Breastfeeding my children, some for an  extended time,
taught me what true bonding  and being in love is! Working with families taught me that
Breastfeeding is an art... not always easy, and that women need support, and I extended my
education to become a Certified Lactation Education Counselor as well as a La Leche
League Peer Counselor Administrator so that I could better support our community and my
clients.
Late in 2005, two insightful and passionate sisters, opened
Mommy Matters,
I knew from the moment I met them that Birth in Fresno was going to change for the better,
and that I wanted to help them do it!
After 12 years as a Peds Nurse at Kaiser Fresno, I am working per diem and doing
consulting. This has allowed me more time and energy for my true passion.. BIRTH! I
currently teach Lamaze classes at Go Natural Wellness Center, Breastfeeding and Baby
classes at Yosemite Pediatrics, and I am involved with my private clients as well as  the
community. I am a member of several professional organizations and community organization
such as :
Lamaze, La Leche League, DONA, CNA, Breastfeeding Task Force,
Childbirth Resource Network, ICAN, CRN,EHS Continuous Improvement Team, and
Head Start Health Services Advisory Committee

How am I able to do all this AND be a MOM?! Simple, I have a lovely and supportive
husband, Rob, who helps make it all possible.. he's an awesome DAD and Partner!
