The word Doula is Greek for “woman servant’, but today, the word has come to mean a woman who is trained and experienced in the art of Labor Support. A Doula knows that Birth is a normal and blessed event, and a memory that the family will make and keep for a lifetime. Doulas improve birth evidence based studies have been done that show this. Klauss, M.Ed, CSW page 51 Addison- Wesley Publishing Company My Birth Doula Services include: Two prenatal meetings to discuss your birth plans and expectations and history, as well as attendance to my seven week Lamaze Classes. I arrive at your labor when you desire me, your home or hospital, based on your needs. I remain with you during the whole labor, and for 1-2 hours afterward to facilitate bonding and breastfeeding. I will follow up in 3 days and 2 weeks to check in on mom and baby, answer questions about newborn care and breastfeeding, and to process your Birth memory ! I am currently taking only one client a month, with my repeaters and VBAC's having priority . I am also mentoring MANY of the new Doulas, and there are some awesomely passionate, educated ladies that are up and coming! Please don't dismiss their services based solely on experience. If I am their mentor I am only a phone call away for advice and support, and hands on help if they need it. If you hire one of my "mentees" it's like getting two Doulas for the price of one!! I am very much missing mommies and babies but I am furthering my studies to be a Nurse Midwife, so that I may help MANY more!!! |
